October 31, 2007 HomeCheck-A1c™ Announces Sponsorship of Desert Dingo Racing
HomeCheck-A1c will be a primary sponsor of Desert Dingo Racing for the 2007 Baja 1000 race and for the 2008 race season. Desert Dingo Racing is campaigning the official World Diabetes Day car in the Baja 1000.
"We're excited to welcome HomeCheck-A1c as the newest sponsor of the Desert Dingo Racing team and appreciate their commitment to helping build awareness of diabetes issues here in the U.S., Mexico and around the world," said Desert Dingo Racing co-owner Mike Aquino, who has Type 2 diabetes. "Diabetes is a global problem, affecting people of all ages. The majority of new cases are being diagnosed in developing countries. In fact, diabetes is the third leading cause of death in Baja California."
Much like Desert Dingo Racing's Class 11 VW requires enhancements to handle the rigors of the Baja, HomeCheck-A1c isn't your typical A1c. Following several years in support of clinical research, the HomeCheck-A1c has been engineered for patients guaranteeing improved accuracy, simplicity and convenience. The product is well suited for use in clinical trials, health screening and diabetes management programs.
"As part of the product launch activities for HomeCheck in the USA, we decided to partner with DDR due to their desire to take on the Baja 1000, their passion to finish and their commitment to community support. Add to that their understanding of the importance of diabetes education based on accurate feedback in stemming this global epidemic and we knew we had to sponsor this amazing team," said HomeCheck-A1c's program manager Eric Link.
The team's 1969 VW (No. 1146) will sport the HomeCheck-A1c logo and the DDR team is available to discuss the value and importance of HomeCheck in stemming the tide of undiagnosed and uncontrolled diabetes.
Desert Dingo Racing has also partnered with the International Diabetes Federation to conduct a drive-a-thon during the Baja 1000 to raise money for diabetes research and education. 100% of the funds raised go to the IDF to support its ongoing efforts.

June 27, 2007 Diabetech® Presents Type 2 Diabetes
Clinical Trial Results at ADA Scientific Sessions
Over 84% of the type 2 diabetes trial participants reduced their blood glucose levels
as measured by a highly accurate hemoglobin A1c laboratory test by an average of 1.1 points; a
significant improvement in blood sugar control.
As a speaker at ADA Scientific in the symposium entitled, "Beyond Health Care Practitioners – Diabetes
Health Care Extenders", McMahon presented the data showing that twenty-six adult patients with type 2
diabetes participated in this 12 month study.
Following enrollment and establishment of the patient's profile, patient participants were given Diabetech's
market leading GlucoMON® wireless glucose meter for automated and accurate blood glucose data
collection, automated GlucoDYNAMIX™ blood glucose logbooks from their online personal health record
(PHR), QuickTips™ lifestyle and diabetes educational messages, HomeCheck™ hematology screening and
A1c laboratory tests at enrollment and every 90 days thereafter, activity guides and more. Minimal human
intervention from program staff and practitioners in this trial also demonstrates the efficiencies gained
using automated technology instead of weekly phone calls from highly skilled professionals who are also
in limited supply.

November 29, 2006 GlucoDYNAMIX™ Diabetes Interventions; Over 125,000 Served

"GlucoDYNAMIX represents an entirely new category of healthcare information technology," says Kevin McMahon, President & CEO of Diabetech. "The key to enabling desperately needed improved outcomes isn't merely changing the location of stored patient data from the medical device to the PC or on the Web. Rather, it's about empowering patients, their social networks and simultaneously increasing the caring capacity and effectiveness of an overworked and inefficient healthcare system."

November 3, 2006 Diabetech® Extends Its Lead as The Premiere Real-time Diabetes Intervention Service Provider
"People who don't know us too well have often suggested that we should
do something with all that blood glucose data besides just real-time alerts" says Eric Link, Diabetech's co-
founder and Chief Technology Officer. "Little did they realize that our GlucoDYNAMIX™ diabetes
intervention platform has been supporting clinical trials since 2002 allowing us to gain more experience
developing more protocols with more patients working in collaboration with more providers than any
other organization in the field of real-time diabetes patient management and social networking."
As Diabetech's most recent strategic research partner, the Baylor Health Care System is working with
Diabetech to screen and monitor patients in its pancreatic islet cell transplant program.
Other programs contributing to Diabetech's leadership include insulin pump start trials with Thomas
Jefferson University, a previously conducted feasibility study for Animas Corporation
and support of a pharma-sponsored trial for Texas Children's Hospital.
Additional research partnerships include LifeScan, Flint Hills Scientific, Zyvex,
the Care Products Institute (an affiliate of
Kaiser Permanente) and a growing type 1 diabetes research community including patients and their
families within our RightNow! Study. Results from several of our clinical trials will be released before the
end of this year.

Grant to help bring health care to rural areas Telemedicine will benefit 100,000
By Adriana Garza Caller-Times
A $455,208 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture will be used to develop technology that will link the services of Driscoll Children's Hospital to nearly 50 rural communities across South Texas through wireless technology.
The grant will help to build the hospital's telemedicine program, which through the use of telecommunications technology can provide medical diagnosis and patient care to patients who do not live in the immediate area. About 100,000 South Texas residents will benefit from the grant.
"The Driscoll telemedicine program plays an important strategic role in outreach to our service area," said Lori Maiolo, the hospital's director of telemedicine.
Maiolo said the hospital has been utilizing real-time video in clinics for several years, but the new funding will provide the hospital with the ability to do remote patient monitoring without video.
The grant also will help the program in providing cardiology and disease management services, Maiolo said.
"The people of South Texas will soon lead the world with the most advanced wireless health care technology for connecting patients, clinicians and specialists together to manage diabetes and asthma," Maiolo said.
The wireless computing technology used by the telemedicine program allows people living in remote areas without access to high speed Internet to have access to the hospital's medical team from their homes.
U.S. Rep. Solomon Ortiz, D-Corpus Christi, announced the telemedicine grant and a distance learning grant for Ricardo Independent School District in Kleberg County on Tuesday.
Ortiz spokeswoman Cathy Travis said providing funding in the two areas is important for the nation.
"More than anything else, the nation needs to invest in education and health care," Travis said.
